Changes to AMEX for HCi

Jan 28, 2025HCi news

Unfortunately, with effect from 31 March 2025, we are no longer able to accept an American Express (AMEX) credit card as a payment type for your premiums.  This decision has not been made lightly but has become necessary due to a combination of factors, including increasing operational expenses associated with supporting AMEX transactions.

As a profit-for-members health fund, HCi has not passed these additional expenses on to our members, and we work hard to avoid having to charge additional banking fees to members.

What do you need to do?

Obviously, if you haven’t been using an AMEX card to pay HCi, this change will not affect you. However, if you are paying HCi premiums with AMEX, you will need to adjust your payment details.

  • If you pay your HCi premiums manually, you do not need to do anything now. However, after 31 March 2025, you will no longer be able to use your AMEX credit card and will need to use an alternative method.

  • If you have authorised us to automatically deduct your premiums from your AMEX credit card, please update your payment details to an alternative method, such as Visa, Mastercard or automated bank direct debit, before 31 March 2025.

Paying HCi premiums – easy!

HCi makes it easy to adjust your payment information to ensure your HCi account stays up-to-date:
