PBS co-payment for pharmacy items reduced

Dec 31, 2025HCi news, Health insurance

As of 1 January 2026, the Government pharmaceutical benefits co-payment will reduce to $25.

The payment is aimed at making necessary medications more affordable for all Australians. Currently, it is $31.60 and will be $25 from 1 January. This means that you will only pay up to $25 for the cost of a prescription, with the Government subsidising the rest.

For eligible pharmacy claims, HCi will match the new co-payment. It will apply to any scripts filled from 1 January 2026.

As always, if you have any questions about the co-payment change or your HCi membership, please contact your friendly HCi team.
