About HCi

HCi has been providing great, value for money private health insurance to Australians since 1938. That makes us one of the oldest private health insurers in Australia – and the oldest to be based in Tasmania. As at 30 June 2024, we covered more than 13,200 people across Australia.

We’re not-for-profit – that means we’re owned by our members so we put our members first, and we exist only to benefit them, with a comprehensive range of health insurance options offered at very competitive rates.

About HCi Governance

The HCi Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring the Fund operates for the benefit of members, in accordance with the Constitution, Fund Rules and relevant legislation.

Our Board consists of six HCi directors who must satisfy both propriety and competency requirements on appointment, and thereafter. Collectively they possess significant speciality expertise in health insurance and financial management. Three HCi directors are appointed directly by the Board and three directors are elected by HCi members.

HCi’s Board is supported by the Management team of the Fund. Based in our corporate office in Burnie, Tasmania and led by our Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Wade, HCi has comprehensive risk management strategies, plans and ongoing compliance programs.

Each year, HCi produces a report for members, a financial report and a capital position disclosure.
