HCi’s hip, knee and spine strengthening programs
Since August 2024, HCi is pleased to offer eligible members access to specialised programs aimed at strengthening and mobilising your knees, hips or spine to avoid the need for surgery.
These programs are a long-term plan to help self-manage your condition.
The goals of these programs are to assist members with osteoarthritis who are likely to require knee, hip or spinal surgery to:
Delay or prevent surgery
Reduce pain and associated symptoms
Improve your ability to undertake everyday activities
Restore function and mobility

Through our health partner, Kieser, you may be able to join the hip or knee Osteoarthritis care program or the spinal care program. Cover includes the first fifteen weeks of the program.
After an initial assessment of your needs, you can join the relevant program and make appointments for a time that suits you. Each program includes an education program and:
Exercise physiotherapy
9 sessions
Exercise scientist sessions
Strength training
26 sessions
on specialised machines
Kieser Konnect app
to exercise at home

How do I access HCi’s hip, knee, or spine strengthening program?
If you’re an HCi member with combined Gold Hospital and Premier or Top Extras cover, and have served your 12 month waiting periods, you may be able to take advantage of these programs!
- Speak to your GP or specialist about getting a referral to Keiser
- Contact Kieser to arrange an assessment
- Kieser will check with HCi that you are eligible
- Start the program!
Kieser has 26 clinics across Australia, with more coming soon, and you can choose whichever is most convenient for you.
Am I eligible?
HCi will cover the entire cost of the first 15 weeks of the program for eligible members. To be eligible, at the time of referral and assessment you must:
- have held Gold hospital and premier extras or top extras cover continuously for 12 or more months
- be financially up to date
- have served the full 12 month waiting period for both types of cover
- be referred in writing by a suitable medical practitioner
- meet relevant clinical criteria at assessment
- not previously claimed a Kieser program with HCi.
Members can only be enrolled in one HCi approved Keiser program at a time and are eligible once only in their lifetime (per person covered on an HCi policy).
Full program eligibility is determined by the program provider, Kieser, in conjunction with HCi. Clinical criteria may apply
