HCi has welcomed Nikki Atack as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing extensive experience in private health insurance and customer-focused leadership.

Nikki joins HCi following senior executive roles across a range of Australian organisations. Her appointment marks a return to the private health insurance sector, where she previously spent more than a decade with HIF and three years with HBF.

HCi Board Chair Gerald White said Nikki was well placed to lead HCi into its next chapter.

“Nikki has a deep understanding of private health insurance and a strong commitment to putting members at the centre of decision-making,” Mr White said.

“She also brings valuable experience in digital transformation, marketing, and commercial strategy, with a strong focus on customer experience, which will be important as HCi continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our members.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Nikki to HCi and looks forward to working with her as we enter the next chapter of the fund’s long history.

“The Board also thanks outgoing CEO Michelle Wade for her leadership and contribution to HCi over the past five years, and wishes her all the very best in retirement.”

Nikki said the opportunity to lead an organisation with such a strong Tasmanian heritage was one she was proud to take on.

“HCi was established in Burnie in 1938 to provide health cover for employees of Associated Pulp and Paper Mills and their families. Today, HCi is a not-for-profit health fund serving members across Australia. That’s a history to be immensely proud of, and one I’m committed to building on as HCi continues to evolve and serve its members for generations to come.”

“Private health insurance is a sector I’ve always loved working in. It’s complex, dynamic, and has a very real impact on people’s lives. I’m excited to bring that experience to HCi and work with our team and partners to make health cover clearer, easier to use, and more valuable for our members.”

Nikki commenced as CEO on 3 August 2026 and is based at our Burnie head office. She is looking forward to meeting our members, hearing their experiences, and getting to know the local community.
